BT Scores Major Win: easyJet Signs Massive Mobile Deal That Changes Everything
BT just landed one of its biggest enterprise wins in recent memory. The UK telecom giant has secured a sweeping mobile connectivity contract with easyJet that will power the airline’s operations across Europe.
While BT kept quiet about the financial details, the scope speaks volumes. The deal puts 23,000 mobile connections on BT’s EE network into the hands of easyJet staff, supporting operations that stretch across 35 countries and over 150 airports.
BT summed up the reach perfectly: “from Gatwick to Gran Canaria.”
A Much-Needed Boost for BT Business
This win arrives at a crucial moment for BT’s Business division. The unit recently pulled back from international markets to focus entirely on the UK, and CEO Allison Kirkby described its performance as “stabilising” during the autumn half-year results presentation.
The numbers told a challenging story. BT Business saw revenue drop 2% year-on-year in the fiscal first half, hitting £2.6 billion. The company blamed declining legacy voice services and equipment trading, though voice over IP growth provided some relief.
BT stayed tight-lipped about mobile’s specific contribution to the Business division, but contracts like this easyJet deal will certainly help turn things around.

What easyJet Gets from the Deal
The partnership gives easyJet comprehensive connectivity across its European footprint. Pilots and cabin crew will tap into the EE network through various devices, accessing flight information and real-time training materials whenever they need them.
BT will also power easyJet’s customer communication system, delivering smart messaging that keeps passengers updated on their flights. In today’s world of constant flight changes and cancellations, this could prove invaluable for travellers. (Though let’s face it, every airline faces travel chaos these days, not just easyJet.)
The technical setup covers multiple use cases. iPads for cabin crew will provide real-time flight data. Smartphones, other mobile devices, and aircraft phones will keep airline staff connected wherever they are. Laptops and additional hardware will support employees across the organization.
eSIM Technology Takes Center Stage
Every device in this rollout will feature eSIM technology, and BT highlighted several key advantages. Remote setup capabilities, stronger security, lower costs, and simplified logistics for global operations all make the list.
Chris Sims, Chief Commercial Officer at BT Business, explained the benefits with appropriate enthusiasm (and yes, that’s actually his name).
“By equipping thousands of devices with eSIMs on EE’s award-winning network, we’re enabling easyJet to manage connections remotely, switch networks across borders, and reduce the complexity of traditional SIMs,” Sims said.
He added: “It’s a future-ready solution that enhances security, boosts efficiency, and keeps teams connected when they need it most.”

The Bottom Line
Strip away the corporate speak, and this remains a straightforward enterprise mobility contract. But for BT, it represents exactly what the company needs right now.
With international operations no longer weighing down the Business division, deals like this one can drive real growth in the domestic market. The company has refocused, stabilized, and now appears ready to build momentum.
Whether this marks a contract renewal or a brand-new customer relationship remains unclear. Either way, BT will take the win.
